A meeting with Mrs. Maggie
From kangguru magazine

Hi, friends…
On Tuesday, 20th November 2007, our team got an order from our English teacher, Mr. Ludang, to interview Mrs. Maggie. We were very happy because we got a gold chance to practice English with her. We hope we can share this interesting experience to you. Because of this reason, so in this occasion we write our report to you. We hope our report can give you useful knowledge.
At first, our team went together to Akademi Kebidanan, on Sutomo street Cilacap. In this place we met Mrs. Maggie. She was very patient and friendly. We were very happy because Mrs. Maggie was pleased to be interviewed by us.
We asked her ‘some question’ and she answered all the question clearly. Sometimes, she laughed and gave us a smile. When we asked about her job, she told us that she worked in Kangguru Magazine in Australia as an assistant editor. We asked her, “What for do you go to Indonesia?” She answered patiently, ”To study.” Then she explained that she had gone to Yogyakarta and Muhammadiyah University in Malang. When we asked her, “What do you think about Indonesia?” She smiled and said, “The country is beautiful and the people are very friendly.” The other question was given by us, “What do you think about our town , Cilacap?” She listened carefully and said, “The road is wide and clean. No polution, it makes me relax. She also told us that in Cilacap, she stayed in Mutiara Hotel. She had been staying in Cilacap for three days. Next week, she would fly to Makassar. We also asked her where she came from. She said that she came from Cairns, a city in Northern of Queensland and she explained about her country. She talked Cairns, her hometown had tropical climate like Indonesia and had two seasons. When we would finish the interview, we had a surprise because actually Mrs. Maggie could speak Indonesian. “I live in Bali now, my husband is Indonesian.” Wow… We laughed up roariously. We felt very stupid at the time. One of our team said in Indonesian directly and asked her, “Apakah kamu sudah menjadi warga Negara Indonesia?” Mrs. Maggie smiled and answered fluently, “Belum”, Oh no… We could not stop to laugh.
Ok friends… That is our experience with Mrs. Maggie. We think it’s very interesting to speak with foreigner like Mrs. Maggie. Thank you for your attention… (By: Viola Shelvannia Haryanto / VIIIA)
